A sound, light and fireworks show that Bucharest will receive on Europe's Day, the 9th of May, in the Parliament Palace Square, from the French and Goethe Institutes in Bucharest. A nice architect from Marseille, with grey curls in his hair, a super-professional of the pyrotechnical shows, travels the continents and their cultural weavings, offering to the cities, at night, ephemeral light fantasies. Since 1974, Pierre Alain Hubert has created over 150 fire works in 20 countries worldwide. The artist's grandiose scenarios are based on a few convictions and interrogations: "What happens with the city at night? ", "How can the constructions be enhanced in the dark?", "Contemporary art must reach the public forum as a celebration", "The light purifies and sends strong psychological messages ", "The street sinesthesies, offered to the crowd, have a great cathartic communication potential".

architecture | The Star Trek House
"The frigidity" of the interior is due to a blend of non-colors " grey, white " and blue, but also to the way it was build. It is not an intricate house; it has nothing of the intimacies of the space we are used to call home. It is rather a free space, transparent and open towards the garden and the world beyond the fence. The entire dwelling articulates around "the glass cube" that shelters the living room, stenographically arranged and furnished as well as the rest of the inhabited space. Perhaps the most adequate key to "read" the house would be the visual-expressive idiom of the play between the light, the transparence and the shine. Beside this play, it is only the surface of the grey-matte aluminum wall that remains where the plasma television set is installed. The furniture" the couch, the transparent table and the two minimalist armchairs " as well as the illuminating bodies that punctuate the passage towards the dining area, situated two steps down, come from Italy together with the utilities' endowment" Ariston and Ideal Standard.

Connex is the leader of the mobile telecommunications in Romania and one of the strongest and most appreciated companies in Romania (www.connex.ro website). Igloo Design is an architecture firm that cannot say the same things about itself, but strongly believes in the necessity of architecture's involvement in the cultural contemporary discourse. And what's the connection? The relation between Connex and Igloo, because this is what we are talking about, was born in a quite strange manner, in a small meeting room with PAL furniture and black leather armchairs, under the Renaissance sign (?!) A series of Connex " Renaissance correspondences is proposed to the vigilant eye illuminated by the above-mentioned truths: the central position of the technology / magic, the importance given to the imaginary in the advertising speech / phantasmal, the communication / coexistence of several visions of the world, are just a few of them. Therefore we chose a few terms: simultaneity, co-presence, analogy and a vision based on the importance of the imaginary " things, in our opinion, belonging both to the Renaissance as well as to Connex, which were the base of our architectural discourse. Then, we established a series of correspondences between materials and concepts which we subsequently put to work together with a total lack of complexes regarding norms and usual practice. Thus, different materials and textures ended up making up unique objects, in a mixture representing the essence of communication itself: your peers' acceptance.
