project | Zlatko House

Between the architecture of dwelling and that of public function - offices, commercial spaces, administrative centres - the difference should rely in the degree of privacy and the sense of security and comfort felt by the owner. A home is the space where one can retire, rest, freely express oneself, where the opening towards the exterior is optional and depends solely upon the owner's wish. Here is why, in contradiction to the trend of transparency and high-tech materials, the key to psychological comfort relies in the use of warm, natural materials, of simple volumes and of moderate dimensions. The house in Mogosoaia, projected by Adrian Spirescu, respects these principles, combining the architect's formal proposition with the client's personal options.

The house is made up of two elongated, superimposed volumes and mainly full shapes; the ground floor is painted white, while the upper floor is placated in vertical natural wood panels, creating a discreet connection to the forest nearby.

profile | Peter Eisenman

Eisenman could be described as a minimalist, if we forget about the popular acception of the word. Still, this label would fit him, because he makes use of a set of strong rules that he never breaks and that he establishes when taking up a project. There are a few rules in this set and they are chosen to serve as the parametres of an algorithm, in the name of a message, that is either present, absent or obvious.

His bildings are in no way comfortable, nor practical, nor functional, nor do they have a strong structure. Actually, after Vitruvius, Eisenman wouldn't qualify as an architect. But, as architecture always gets its impulses from outside, he can be
considred an "agent provocateur", in the context of post- and neo-modernism.

interior | Club Wish

An illuminated time tunnel, a dream-like sensation defined by the limits of the interior, a repetitive and reversed etamorphosis of the visitor, from passive watcher to active participant - "to put it in a few words, a continuous spectacle, with no beginning and no end", as the architect himself, Mario Kuibus, describes his work.

The idea behind the interior design was to create a space independent from the real world, to create a new world, parallel to the real one, a sort of spiritual and urban jungle, accessible and inviting to a varied human and urban target public, desiring to step into such a world for a few hours.

interview | Adrian Spirescu

There is a special bond between an architect and the houses he designs, as behind each and every one of them, there is a story. Besides being an architect, Adrian Spirescu is also a storyteller.

"[...] I have always regarded architectural creation through the concept of complete knowledge of all the factors that make it up: the urban, social and natural context... the lighting the plastic expression, the human factor... and many other elements which, combined, result in an architectural structure. In fact, paradoxically, my activity as a teacher is also marked by a similar way of seeing things."
