“I tell color stories. In my work color speaks louder than words” says Ana Romero, the artist who creates vibrant patterns for her eponym lifestyle brand. Just before the launch of her new website, we’re sharing the editorial presentation which will accompany it: Mirror / Mirror.
The staple of Ana Romero’s work is her unique use of color. Renowned for producing optical and kaleidoscopic designs in her vibrant signature style, she strives to produce fashion-forward designs that mix innovative concepts with a timeless graphic expression.
Her designs are influenced by her travels around the whole world and by the work of artists such as Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley from the Optical Art Movement, Andy Warhol, Frank Stella and Sonia Delaunay.
Taking the kaleidoscopic approach of her designs even further, Ana and her editorial team created an asymmetrical realm of mirrors which reflect various angles of her patterns. And so, Mirror / Mirror stands for a fresh creative statement blending art, fashion design and lifestyle.
Ana Romero is a visual artist, product and surface designer born in Lisbon, Portugal. She graduated in Communication Design from the College of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. First establishing herself as a textile designer in New York in 2008, she specialized in developing prints for the fashion and surface design markets and her designs have been used by many brands in swimwear, sportswear, women’s and menswear, stationary and gifts, furnishing fabrics or packaging. Having worked with interior design and established herself as a textile designer in New York, Ana wanted to bring together her two favorite things: fashion and home decor. Born from her desire to sublimate her signature style into everyday objects, Ana Romero launched her eponymous brand in NY in 2012. Other standout achievements include an exclusive collection for Barneys New York, becoming an associated artist of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon, a partnership with luxury stationery brand Fine&Candy presented at Harrods in London (2014), a feature of her work on Gossip Girl and collaborations with Anthropologie, as well as with Kerástase Paris in Portugal.
